The United States State Department yesterday urged the Sri Lankan authorities to accomadate religious faith and cultural traditions, in accordance to internationally accepted public health guidelines in relation to final rites of Covid victims.
The South and Central Asian Affairs Bureau of the State Department had posted the following tweet.
“According to WHO, “people who have died from COVID-19 can be buried.” The U.S. has conveyed its concern about Sri Lanka’s mandatory cremation policy and urges respect for the traditions of its diverse communities” US Ambassador to Sri Lanka tweeted.
