Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekara says that CPC will commence fuel distribution to fuel stations only after vehicles currently in queues are removed.
He further reiterated that fuel distribution will commence with both the National Fuel Pass and the last digit of the number plate systems made mandatory.
Kanchana Wijesekara met with representatives of the fuel station owners’ association and discussed about fuel supply adhering to the new system.
He also discussed about the security of fuel station employees as well as customers and possible ways of issuing fuel to requirements which cannot be registered through the Fuel Pass system.
In the discussion, the Minister has provided 21st of July as a tentative date to commence fuel distribution, after disembarking the Petrol cargo on the 19th July. However the Minister tweeted earlier today that a effective date will be officially announced soon. (NewsWire)
