Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa slammed both the Government and the Opposition in Parliament today, in a fiery speech.
Minister Weerawansa said that although the President’s decision to utilize organic fertilizer was taken with good intention, it has a few problems.
Pointing out that fertilizer cannot only be 100% organic or chemical, he said the solution is that farmers must get familiar with the natural farming process as they were before 1977.
Commenting on the Yugadanavi power plant deal with a US company, the Minister said that he has gone to courts against the Government decision along with Ministers Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Udaya Gammanpila.
Minister Wimal Weerawansa also called on the Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya to act responsibly at a time when the threat of COVID-19 still remains in the country.
He urged the Opposition to show their protests through innovative methods, rather than gathering crowds and risking people’s lives.
The Minister further emphasized the need for everyone to get together to resolve the current economic and foreign exchange crises, which he blamed on leaders who had governed the country since 1977.
Stating that the cost of living will further skyrocket when goods are imported, Weerawansa said the only solution is to strengthen local production. (NewsWire)
