Minster gives update on National Fuel Pass

Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara says that glitches and negative comments were expected with the introduction of the National Fuel Pass system, which is why users were requests for register over the next few days to reduce traffic to the site.

He further said that the system was developed with the help of ICTA and several leading Sri Lankan tech companies with no costs to the government or the CPC.

“National Fuel Pass was developed with the assistance of leading Tech companies in SL & ICTA without any cost to CPC or Govt. Glitches & Negative comments were both expected. Thus the request was made to register over a few days & commenced a few days before distribution commenced” he tweeted.

Following the introduction of the National Fuel Pass system, it received mixed feedback from users as some who registered early had a seamless experience while some others had reported issues/ bugs.

Some users had complained of getting a QR code with a different vehicle number while others complained of not being able to register or delays in receiving the OTP.

After just few hours of being inaugurated, the system went offline with users getting a message as “Under Maintenance”, due to high traffic experienced.

However, the system seems to be back online now after being offline for few hours. (NewsWire)
