Mrs. Sri Lanka controversy in court: Jurie and Chula released on bail

Caroline Jurie, Mrs. Sri Lanka 2020 and former model Chula Padmendra were released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today.

The two women were released on personal bail of Rs. 100,000 each, after a case filed against them on the incident that had taken place at the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World pageant 2021, had been taken up for hearing today.

The case had been filed by Pushpika Silva who was announced as the winner of the contest.

A controversial incident took place at the pageant after Pushpika was uncrowned by Jurie and Chula, claiming that she was a divorcee.

However, Pushpika later announced that she was not a divorcee and was re-crowned by the organisers of the pageant.

She had thereafter filed a complaint at the Cinnamon Gardens Police against Jurie and Chula.

The two women were arrested and released on Police bail after recording statements at the Cinnamon Gardens Police on multiple occasions.

Caroline Jurie also relinquished her title over the incident that occurred at the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World pageant 2021. (NewsWire)
