Mrs. World 2020 title holder Caroline Jurie appeared before the Cinnamon Gardens Police in Colombo today to record a statement in connection to the Mrs. Sri Lanka for World Pageant held on Sunday.
Caroline Jurie had removed the crown off Pushpika Silva who was announced as the winner of the pageant, over allegations that the contestant was divorced.
Jurie announced that a divorced contestant cannot participate in the contest as per the regulations, and crowned the first runner up as the winner of the Mrs. Sri Lanka for World pageant.
Issuing a statement, the organizers of the pageant condemned the behavior of Caroline Jurie at the event.
They said any contestant who is legally married can participate in the contest.
Jurie appeared before the Cinnamon Gardens Police today following a complaint lodged by Pushpika Silva against her.
According to reports, Pushpika Silva and the National Director of Mrs. Sri Lanka for World pageant, Chandimal Jayasingha had also recorded statements at the Police station today.
The incident that took place at the conclusion of the pageant had caused controversy, with various views being shared on social media. (NewsWire)
