A high number of vehicles are reported to have travelled on the Southern Expressway yesterday (14) during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said a multi-vehicle collision involving nearly 10 vehicles was reported between Dodangoda and Gelanigama on the expressway yesterday.
He said the accident had occurred at a time when a large number of vehicles were reported to have been travelling on the expressway.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the cause for the multi-vehicle collision was due to the drivers of the two vehicles not maintaining a gap between the vehicles.
He urged motorists to be mindful when travelling on the expressway and to maintain a gap between vehicles at all times. (NewsWire)
