Sri Lanka assistant coach Naveed Nawaz has explained the popular coding method head coach Chris Silverwood uses to communicate information to players.
Chris Silverwood has been known to use a visual coding method from the dressing room to communicate certain information to players during his tenure as England coach as well, which has been widely talked about in the cricketing world.
Participating in a TV interview, Naveed Nawaz explained that this method is developed using data collected from companies who maintain databases of recordings of all the cricket matches played in the world.
He further said that using this already coded information, the coach relays the message through visual coding to the captain, letting him know which type of bowler is ideal against the batsman in the middle, as per the available coded data.
The assistant coach went on to add that this is still only an information passed on to the captain and it’s not forcing him to make any decisions but it’s the captain’s responsibility to adapt according to the game situation. (NewsWire)
