The proposal to call for bids for the construction of an elevated expressway connecting the new Kelaniya bridge, Rajagiriya and Athurugiriya has been approved by the cabinet of Ministers.
The Road Development Authority has conducted a feasibility study to construct the elevated expressway.
The elevated expressway will connect the new Kelaniya bridge to the Athurugiriya Interchange on the Outer Circular Highway via Rajagiriya along the Port Access elevated expressway, which is currently under construction on World Bank funds.
Accordingly, the proposal put forth by the Minister of Highways to request for proposals (RFP) for the construction of the proposed project has received the cabinet nod.
The project will be implemented with 100% foreign investment under the Build, Operate, and Transfer Scheme (BOT). (NewsWire)
