New exit strategy discussed for housing complexes in isolation

The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) has discussed the possibility of easing the prolonged isolation process of housing complexes due to COVID-19.

Head of the Task Force Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said PCR and Rapid Antigen tests will be incorporated in the possible new exit strategy pertaining to the isolation of apartment complexes.

The COVID Task Force pointed out that the spread of COVID-19 within the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) areas has relatively decreased after 21 October in comparison to previous records proven via all PCR tests carried out, including in high risk zones.

Commenting on the Prison cluster, the Army Commander said several special COVID-19 Treatment Centres with Military protection would be set up in the Jaffna, Kandakadu and Gallella areas under the directives of the President in order to treat Covid patients detected from the prisons.

Stating that the discussion also focused on indigenous medicines to treat Covid19, Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said the medical solutions of the indigenous medical sector will be tested and validated through a special committee appointed by the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine.

He added that discussions were also held on the possibility of receiving 500-600 expatriates into the country from overseas on a daily basis, and conducting PCR tests and quarantine processes on all of them. (NewsWire)
