President Ranil Wickremesinghe will contest the Presidential polls, Minister of Tourism, Lands, and Sports Harin Fernando said today.
Addressing the media, the minister said that the President will emerge victorious in the election due to the current division within the Opposition.
Stating that the President is yet to launch his election campaign, Minister Fernando said many are utilizing this to claim that the Opposition will win.
“When the Opposition gets divided, the President will automatically come on top. Earlier, the Opposition was run by a two-party system, where only two parties dominated. However, the JVP has come forward due to the weakness of the Opposition,” he said.
Minister Fernando said when the votes of Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake split, then President Ranil Wickremesinghe will emerge victorious. (NewsWire)
