Nine updates on current Covid situation in Sri Lanka

  • 1st May 2021 in Sri Lanka. 1,716 new cases reported, 9 deaths, and 23,631 PCR tests done. One death occurred on each of 28, 29 Apr, 1 May and 6 deaths on 30 Apr. – Institute for Health Policy
  • Ayurveda hospitals in Rajagiriya, Navinna and Pallekele to begin treating coronavirus patients as the number of people seeking treatment for the virus increases daily
  • 187 people arrested in 24 hours for failing to wear facemasks and follow quaraanrrine regulations : Police Spokesperson
  • All offices of the Department of Registration of Persons will not be open to the public until further notice : Commissioner General
  • All airlines informed to limit their passengers to Sri Lanka to 75 per aircraft for two weeks from tomorrow ; Civil Aviation Authority
  • Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage in self-quarantine after his driver and security officer were found to be infected with the coronavirus
  • Sri Lanka is scheduled to sign an initial agreement with Pfizer Inc., the bio-pharmaceutical company that manufactures the Pfizer-BioNTech anti-Covid-19 vaccine, tomorrow (3)  – Sunday Morning
  • President of the PHI Union Upul Rohana says that since PCR test results are delayed and the data reflects the situation in the country about three days earlier.
  • Judicial Service Commission (JSC) by a new circular superseding the earlier one, has directed only bail and urgent matters to be taken up in open court from 03rd-07th May 2021.
