The Ministry of Education has taken steps to commence a system of providing marks for exercises from lesson to lesson without holding term exams for the primary school students.
Points given in this method will be added to the marks of the examination held at the end of the year and the points will be divided into two to evaluate the students, Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said.
This step will be taken with the aim of making the school a place that children would love to be at, the Minister stated.
The Subject Minister said, plans are afoot to cover all the incomplete syllabi by the end of next year December, adding that the academic curriculum will be brought back to normal.
An educational pattern will be initiated from next year that will require children who leave school to enter universities or other technical training fields based on their skills, he highlighted.
The Minister made these statements while participating as the chief guest at a Christmas Ceremony held yesterday (Dec. 21) at the Colombo Cathedral Boys’ College. (NewsWire)
