Norochcholai power plant remains off-grid: Public urged to use electricity sparingly

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) states the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has successfully restored power to the entire country following the islandwide blackout reported yesterday.

An islandwide power failure was reported for several hours yesterday after a technical fault at the Kerawalapitiya Sub-station.

The technical fault had led to the Norochcholai power plant, which supplies power to the National grid, being inactive.

The PUCSL said the 900-megawatt Norochcholai power plant still remains off the grid.

The public have been urged to use electricity sparingly due to this reason, it added. (Newswire)
