A proposal to revise the number of maximum guests at a wedding from 150 to 50 has been suspended.
Health authorities had earlier contemplated a change, due to weddings being identified as a hotspot for the spread of COVID-19.
However, State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemic, and Covid Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle said the maximum number of guests at weddings remains unchanged, and will remain at 150.
According to The Morning, State Minister Fernandopulle said the proposal was put aside due to a number of requests made by many professional groups involved and heavily dependent on the Wedding Industry.
She said taking into consideration the requests and effects to their livelihoods, the Government had decided not to revise the maximum number of guests at a wedding.
State Minister Sudharshini Fernandopulle said however, the decision is subject to change at any time. (NewsWire)
