Justice Minister Ali Sabry says that he was unaware of the setting up of the “One Country, One Law” Presidential Task Force headed by Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda-aththe Gnanasara Thera.
Minister Sabry told the Sunday Times Newspaper he was not consulted on the setting up of the Task Force. “I am not happy about the move,” he said.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had appointed the 13-member Presidential Task Force on ‘One country, One Law’ on Wednesday (27).
Announcing the Task Force, he further revealed that it will be headed by Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera of the Bodu Bala Sena organization.
The Task Force has been vested with studying the implementation of the concept; One Country, One Law within Sri Lanka.
It has also been tasked with preparing a draft Act, studying Acts and amendments that have already been compiled by the Ministry of Justice, and determining if there are suitable amendments, and submitting proposals as deemed appropriate. (NewsWire)
