Another 1,038 suspects have been arrested in the islandwide special operation ‘Yukthiya’ carried out by the Police Special Task Force (STF).
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the suspects were apprehended during raids conducted until 12.30 am today (Jan 04).
The ministry further said that 417g of heroin, 205g of ICE, and 722 narcotic pills were recovered during the raids.
Over 23,500 suspects have been arrested so far since the islandwide special operation was launched on December 17, 2023.
The Police STF has conducted over 23,000 raids during the operation launched to curtail drug and underworld-related activities in Sri Lanka.
The Police have also recovered a large amount of narcotics and have also seized several illegally acquired assets, including properties and vehicles, during the multiple raids. (NewsWire)
