In today’s parliamentary session, Sajith Premadasa, the Leader of the Opposition, emphasized a rare unity among political factions on the issue of cricket administration in Sri Lanka. Despite ideological differences between the government and the opposition, there is a shared commitment to address concerns surrounding the cricket board’s management.
The Opposition Leader articulated a collective responsibility to safeguard the present and future of cricket in the country, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the game’s well-being over partisan interests. He underscored the necessity for immediate removal of the allegedly corrupt cricket administration and advocated for the formulation of a transparent and robust strategy for the sport’s future.
Furthermore, the Opposition Leader proposed the establishment of a parliamentary forum dedicated to cricket matters. This forum would comprise Members of Parliament, whose valuable insights and opinions could contribute to the effective governance and protection of cricket in Sri Lanka.
In his address to the Parliament on the 9th of this month, the Opposition Leader presented a resolution condemning the alleged corruption within the Sri Lanka Cricket board. He called upon the members of the cricket administration to voluntarily resign, citing the importance of upholding honor and integrity in the management of the sport.
