Opposition leader MP Sajith Premadasa today questioned the Government on the motives to impose a State of Emergency and a curfew in Sri Lanka at a time when there was no threat to national security.
Addressing Parliament today, he further questioned the reason for the Government to impose a social media ban, along with the State of Emergency and curfew.
The MP also raised the issue of armed military personnel on motorcycles without number plates riding through the crowd at a public protest near the Parliament yesterday.
Questioning if the people on the motorcycles belonged to a specific group, MP Premadasa also questioned their presence at a peaceful public protest.
The Opposition leader called on the Government to provide clear answers to his questions and their true motive. (NewsWire)
