Pahala Kadugannawa : No positive development

Pahala Kadugannawa section of the Colombo-Kandy road will remain closed until further notice, Road Development Authority announced today.

Earlier it was announced that one lane of Kadugannawa area on the Colombo-Kandy main road will be opened after 12 PM today.

But now a decision has been taken to further close the road due to the prevailing bad weather conditions.

Due to the risk of landslides, the Kandy-Colombo main road has been closed near the pahala Kadugannawa area since last Wednesday (10) night.

Fruits stalls and other temporary structures along the main road at pahala Kadugannawa were removed on Saturday.

The RDA has announced the following alternative routes from Colombo to Kandy:

1. From Ambepussa to Kurunegala, and to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
2. From Kegalle to Polgahawela to Kurunegala to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
3. From Mawanella to Rambukkana to Hatharaliyadda to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
4. From Mawanella to Hemmathagama to use the Gampola-Preadeniya route to Kandy

Following are the alternative routes from Kandy to Colombo:

1. From Katugastota-Galagedara to Kurunegala to proceed to Colombo
2. From Katugastota- Galagedara-Rambukkana to proceed to Colombo
