Thirukumar Nadesan, the husband of former Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa who was named in the recently leaked Pandora Papers, has called for an independent investigation into the allegations.
In a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Nadesan has called for an independent investigator, preferably a retired appellate court judge, to be appointed to probe the matter.
“I assure your Excellency, that my wife and I are totally innocent and are guilty of no wrongdoings,” he said.
Nadesan and Nirupama have been named in the Pandora Papers released by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) for having various accounts/ assets, off-shore.
Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, today instructed the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to conduct an immediate investigation on the Sri Lankans named in the Pandora Papers.
The President had further informed the Chairman of the Bribery Commission to submit a report on the investigations within a month. (NewsWire)
