The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing the April 2019 Easter attacks today ordered to take legal action against a Maulavi attached to the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) and his lawyer.
The Chairman of the PCoI issued the order after receiving information that the acting Secretary of the ACJU had secretly recorded video footage of the witness hearing of Bodu Bala Sena General- Secretary Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.
Ven. Gnanasara Thero testified before the PCoI Yesterday (09) where he was allowed to be cross- examined by legal representatives of certain Islamic Organizations.
The Chairman of the PCoI also instructed the Commission’s Secretary to file action at the Court of Appeal against the legal representative of the ACJU who had handed over the mobile phone used to record the video footage.
The Commission’s Secretary was further instructed to inform the Disciplinary Committee of the Sri Lanka BAR Association of Sri Lanka to take necessary action against the lawyer.
The PCoI probing the Easter attacks ordered all legal representatives attending sessions to adhere to legal procedures in the future. (NewsWire)
