PCol informed Harin’s father received 356 second call from CID officer on day prior to Easter attacks

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) appointed to probe the April 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks was informed that former Minister Harin Fernando’s father had held a telephone conversation with a Police Officer from the Criminal Investigations Department prior to the attacks.

The PCoI was informed by state lawyers that MP Fernando’s father had spoken to the CID officer via his personal mobile phone for 356 seconds on the day before the attacks took place.

Following the attacks, MP Harin Fernando made headlines after he made a statement that his father had warned him not to attend the Easter Service due to a threat of such attacks.

Testifying before the PCol yesterday, MP Fernando said his father who was at hospital at the time had informed this to his sister prior to the attacks and he was informed about it by his sister after the attacks.

MP Fernando then said he revealed this to media to show that there had been prior information received with regard to the attacks. (NewsWire)
