A fire reported in engine room of a Panama registered Oil Tanker 38 nautical miles off SangamanKanda coast, Sri Lanka Navy said.
Sri Lanka Navy has already sent 3 ships for assistance while Sri Lanka Air Force has also deployed a special aircraft to observe the distressed Oil Tanker.
Army Commander Shavendra Silva told NewsFirst that the Crew of the Oil Tanker (excluding captain and an officer) has been rescued by a passing vessel.
Sri Lanka Navy said they have reports that 19 people are injured due to the fire.(NewsWire)
