Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s visit to Dubai in January 2022 has been cancelled.
PM Rajapaksa was due to leave for Dubai on 2nd January 2022 to attend the Dubai Expo event.
He was scheduled to attend the event as a chief guest on 3rd January on an invitation extended by the Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The 3rd of January had reportedly been declared as a National Day for Sri Lanka at the Dubai Expo.
However, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister confirmed to Daily Mirror that the Prime Minister has cancelled his visit to Dubai due to growing issues in Sri Lanka, including an economic crisis.
“The Prime Minister is optimistic that Sri Lanka’s economy will be back on track from next year as our foreign reserves has also hit the 3 billion dollar mark. He is unable to make the visit at the moment due to addressing matters back here at home,” Yoshitha added. (NewsWire)
