Police accidently kills driver in Narammala

A man was killed in Narammala tonight after a police pursuit ended in a fatal encounter. The incident occurred in the Dampelessa area when a lorry driver allegedly failed to stop at a police checkpoint. Officers gave chase, and after apprehending the vehicle, an accidental discharge of a firearm by one of the officers resulted in the driver’s death.

Initial reports suggest that the lorry driver disregarded a police checkpoint signal, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit. The chase concluded with the successful apprehension of the vehicle. During a subsequent inspection, a Sub-Inspector (SI) accidentally discharged his firearm, fatally wounding the driver.
