Officers attached to the Walana Anti corruption Unit have apprehended an illegally assembled SUV along with a suspect from the Kumbukkana area in Moneragala on Friday (5), the police said.
While carrying out investigations regarding a case pending in the Avissawella Magistrate’s court, officers have inspected a Montero type SUV, where it has been revealed that the vehicle has been illegally assembled.
Following further investigations, comparing details for the department of Motor traffic, it has also been revealed that the registration number of the vehicle too has been forged.
Police have also arrested a 24-year-old suspect along with the SUV and have been handed over to the Moneragala Police station.
Further investigations have revealed that a suspicious SUV apprehended on 10th October from Deraniyagala and the SUV apprehended yesterday (5) have both shred the same vehicle plate number.
