The Police have found a letter written by the Sub-Inspector (SI) attached to the Buttala Police who was wanted over the headless corpse found on Dam Street in Colombo.
The Badulkumbura Police had found the letter written by the SI, who is said to have died by suicide after being identified as the suspect wanted in connection to the murder.
The officer is reported to have apologised to his wife in the suicide note, allegedly claiming that the murder was a mistake.
The suspect had abandoned a headless corpse of a woman in a travelling bag on Dam Street in Colombo on Monday afternoon.
The Police had obtained CCTV footage showing the man transporting the bag from Hanwella to Colombo in a bus.
Investigations had led to the identity of the suspect, who was found to have died by suicide at his residence in Badulkumbura today.
The headless corpse has been identified as that of a 30-year-old woman from Kuruwita.
The Police are conducting investigations to find the head of the corpse, which is reported to be missing since the incident. (NewsWire)
