Police fire water cannons to disperse NPP women’s protest

The Police have used water cannons to disperse a group of protesters at the Polduwa Junction in Battaramulla.

The protest was staged by the women’s wing of the National Peoples Power (NPP) near the Parliamentary Roundabout.

The NPP’s women’s wing staged the protest over several demands, including the rising cost of living, the tax burden on the people and other issues in the country.

It is reported that police had resorted to using water cannons as the protesters had attempted to march towards the Parliament along Parliament Road. (NewsWire)
