Police provide update on Journalist Zackie Jabbar who was found dead inside his house

Journalist Zackie Jabbar (60) from “The Island” Newspaper was found dead at his house in Pelawatta last night (09), the Talangama Police said.

Zackie Jabbar who was living alone in his house had not reported to work for more than a week with no contacts over the last 20-days.

The Talangama Police said no one was aware that the journalist had died inside his residence until his body was found.

Preliminary inspection of the body has revealed that the journalist may have died a week ago but the smell of the body had not spread outside as all doors and windows of the house were found shut.

The Police further said that Zackie Jabbar was unmarried and was residing at the house which belonged to his brother.

Jabbar’s brother, who had arrived at the house yesterday had broken open a window and had entered the house. He had found the body of Jabbar close to a washroom in the house with a faint foul smell, they further said.

The Police said that upon being informed by him, a team had been deployed from the Talangama Police Station to the location.

Preliminary investigations had revealed that the journalist may have died due to a heart attack, while a post mortem examination is to be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
