The Port Access Elevated Highway (PAEH) Project directly linking the Colombo Harbour and the Colombo Port City to the Katunayake Airport is expected to be opened in October 2024, it was reported.
According to Daily News, an official of the South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) said over 85% of the project work has now been completed.
It is reported that the Port Access Elevated Highway has also been planned in a way to provide easy access to foreigners between the duty-free shop to be opened at the Colombo Port City in April and the Katunayake Aiport.
Foreigners will be able to make their purchases at the duty-free shop and use the highway to travel directly to the airport.
The Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka Private Ltd is also reportedly planning to open a ticket counter at the Colombo Port City allowing foreigners to check in before leaving for the airport.
The (SASEC) Port Access Elevated Highway (PAEH) Project will construct about 5.3 kilometres (km) of an elevated toll highway with related facilities between New Kelani Bridge and Galle Face in Colombo. (NewsWire)
