Postal Dept struggles with over 800 parcels with defaced addresses from Malaysia

The Department of Posts is in possession of 880 parcels sent from Malaysia.

The parcels are said to have been stranded at the Department of Posts for some time as the addresses on the parcels have become defaced

The parcels, which are said to be online purchases by Sri Lankans, were stranded due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown imposed in Sri Lanka.

The Department of Posts said it is facing extreme difficulties in recovering the defaced addresses of the parcels.

Earlier, nearly 45, 000 parcels from Malaysia with defaced addresses were stranded at the Postal Department.

The Department of Posts had requested Malaysia’s Postal Department to assist in tracing the addresses by using the barcode on the parcels.

The Department has further clarified that the parcels have not been stolen by postal employees as charged by some people. (Newswire)
