Former LTTE fighter and leader of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pullikal (TMVP) MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan was appointed as the Co – Chairman of the Batticaloa District Development Committee by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Pillayan is currently in remand custody in the case over the murder of former Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham.
While Pillayan can attend parliament from remand custody it’s not clear if he can attend the district develop committe meeting which will be held in Batticoloa. (NewsWire)
