Approval has not been granted to increase the price of wheat flour in Sri Lanka, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said.
The CAA said wheat flour companies have not been given permission to increase their product prices on their own.
The authority issued the clarification after Prima Ceylon (Pvt) Limited announced that it had decided to increase the price of wheat flour.
The company said it has decided to increase the price of wheat flour by Rs. 12 with immediate effect.
Commenting on the matter, the Consumer Affairs Authority said the company had not informed the CAA of this decision.
The CAA added that legal action will be initiated against the company for increasing the price of wheat flour without authorization. (NewsWire)
