A meeting was convened today by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to explore the possibility of allowing the dead bodies of Covid victims to be buried.
The Prime Minister’s office said health authorities and public representatives attended the meeting.
During the meeting Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa notified authorities to identify a dry plot of land with deep groundwater levels for burials of COVID-19 victims, Prime Minister’s office said.
During the meeting health authorities informed the Prime Minister that the Covid virus will survive for nearly 36 days in a covid victim’s dead body.
