The Government has finalized the priority list of vulnerable groups that will receive the COVID-19 vaccine first.
Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said all necessary measures have been taken in respect of the vaccination.
He said as per the priority list, frontline workers who are involved in containing the spread of the coronavirus will first receive the vaccine.
The Army Commander said that once the vaccines obtained from India arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, the military will transport it to be stored in Colombo.
The Task Force under President’s Chief Advisor Lalith Weeratunga will handle all relevant procedures in this regard.
General Shavendra Silva said the procedures will include the transportation of vaccines to vaccination centres and storage. (NewsWire)
