Protests held in several areas but low turnout

The “National Day of Protest” (Jathika Virodatha Dinaya) was marked by several anti-government protests being held in various parts of Sri Lanka today.

The main protest for the day was held at Independence Square in Colombo with the participation of civil activists and several ordinary citizens.

The opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) also staged a protest outside the Parliament today to mark the “National Day of Protest”.

However, the crowds at the protests held in various parts of the country today were not as much in comparison to previous anti-government protests. (NewsWire)
