The Motor Traffic Department jointly with the Sri Lanka Police launched a programme to introduce a sticker with a QR Code for three-wheelers in Sri Lanka.
Details of the owner of the three-wheeler are stored in the sticker, while the Police will provide this sticker only to three-wheelers registered with them.
Software to scan the QR Code via a mobile application has been introduced to all Police Stations enabling Police officers to obtain all the details of the three-wheeler by scanning the QR Code.
The Police said that parking facilities at main towns would only be given to three-wheelers with the relevant sticker.
They added that the new measure would help prevent the crimes committed using three-wheelers and will also control the theft of three-wheelers, which is on the rise in the country. (NewsWire)
