Ready to co-produce vaccines in SL, says China

Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka tweeted yesterday (07) of plans of producing Covid 19 vaccines in Sri Lanka.

Answering a question raised by a Twitter user on the possibility of providing 10/12 million doses of vaccine doses to Sri Lanka, the Embassy tweeted that it’s working closely with Sri Lankan authorities to encourage biotech companies from China and Sri Lanka to collaborate on vaccine filling lines in the island.

Yesterday, WHO announced that it granted approval for emergency use of China’s Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines worldwide.

The Expert Committee of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) has also approved the emergency use of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine in Sri Lanka.

Vaccination of Chinese Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines began today from Panadura MOH office
