Forty-two (42) Red Notices have been issued for wanted criminals who have currently fled Sri Lanka, Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon said.
Acting IGP Tennakoon said that the suspects are wanted for underworld and drug-related crimes.
He further said that INTERPOL assistance will be obtained to repatriate these wanted criminals.
The Acting IGP made the remarks to the media after declaring open a new Police checkpoint near the National Hospital in Colombo.
The Sri Lankan Law enforcement authorities have commenced tracking down wanted criminals.
As part of the operations, the main accomplice of underworld member Salindu Malshika alias ‘Kudu Salindu’ was brought to Sri Lanka from Dubai this morning.
Commenting on the apprehension, Acting IGP Tennakoon said that measures are being taken to interrogate the suspect on drug operations related to Sri Lanka.
He also revealed that steps are being taken to bring down the Police officer who had assisted druglord Nadun Chinthaka alias Harak Kata’s failed attempt to escape from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Acting IGP Tennakoon said the assistance of INTERPOL would be obtained for this purpose. (NewsWire)
