The Cabinet of Ministers have approved a proposal to provide relief for electricity consumers for the months of March, April and May.
Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera said that cabinet decided to match the March, April & May electricity bills to that of February and grant a grace period of 2 months for payment.
Accordingly consumers will only have to pay the February amount for March, April and May, Minister said.
This will only apply for customers who have high electricity bills in month of March, April and May.
If consumers had settled bills for March, April & May, the relevant amount would be returned or deducted from future bills, the minister added.
