The Inland Revenue Department has received Rs 2.4 billion worth 6,878 dishonoured cheques as at 31st, December according to the information revealed during a meeting of Parliament Committee on Public Accounts (COPA).
COPA ordered Inland Revenue Department officials to take immediate action to recover the unpaid Rs. 2.4 billion.
Inland Revenue Department officials informed the meeting that court cases have been filed in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to recover Rs. 2,670 million in tax arrears from the casino business. (NewsWire)
