Former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has raised concerns over the government’s use of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) to crackdown on anti-government protesters.
In a Twitter message, Jayasuriya condemned the use of the PTA to arrest and detain activists who had participated in the recent anti-government protests.
“It is deeply concerning to see so many arrests of protesters and detaining some under terrorism laws,” he said.
The newly appointed Sri Lanka Tourism Ambassador pointed out that Sri Lanka is slowly limping to normalcy and that this is the time to look forward not backward.
“To err is human to forgive divine,” he added. (NewsWire)
