Schools fully reopening – Media statement

State Schools will reopen for the remaining grades to resume academic activities from the 22nd of November, Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has informed Parliament. 

Issuing a statement, the Education Ministry said grades 6,7,8, and 9 of State and semi Government schools that are yet to reopen will resume academic activities on the said date. 

Schools were closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic and have now been reopened under four stages on the advice of the health authorities. 

Under the first stage, the primary section of schools with less than 200 students reopened and the second phase saw the reopening of the primary sections of all schools. 

The third stage enabled the reopening of schools for the GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level classes. 

Under the final phase, the remaining grades are to resume academic activities from 22nd November under strict health guidelines. (NewsWire)
