Senior Police officer explains reason for removal of mural on ecocide (Video)

A mural on ecocide erected at the Vihara Maha Devi Park, opposite the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo was taken down by the Environment Police Unit today.

The mural painted by the Youth Wing of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society was erected to coincide with the International Climate Action Day.

“They had placed this without the approval of the Police. After this Government came into power Colombo is very beautiful without any garbage. You can’t allow to put posters inside Vihara Maha Devi Park like this” SSP Roshan Rajapaksa told reporters, explaining the reason for the removal of the mural.

“Only after our Government was elected there is a positive dialog about saving the environment, ” the Senior police officer added.
