Several high-ranking officials of Sri Lanka are reportedly infected with COVID-19.
According to reports, former Police Spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Ajith Rohana and Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana are among some of the officers receiving treatment for COVID-19.
Commissioner-General of the National Election Commission Saman Sri Rathnayake has also been infected and is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, 08 Parliamentarians have also tested positive for COVID-19 in the month of August alone.
State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura tested positive yesterday, becoming the 8th MP to contract the virus this month.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautionary measures due to the rapid spread of the current strain of the coronavirus.
Over 4000 Covid cases have been reported per day in Sri Lanka over the last few days. (NewsWire)
