Several Police stations raided for not paying water bills

The Minsitry of Water Supply has conducted raids on some Police stations that had defaulted in paying water bills, subject Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara said.

According to the Daily Mirror, Minister Nanayakkara said raids were conducted on the Police stations to recover the defaulted payments.

Addressing an online media briefing held yesterday, the Minister pointed out that non-revenue water is a big issue for the Government, adding that this was where water leaks or water is illegally acquired.

Assuring that drinking water will be made a basic right for all, he said that the Government hopes to achieve this goal during its current tenure.
