The Sri Lanka Police has issued shooting orders to Police Stations to stop incidents of violence across the country.
In a statement, the Police said they have also requested public support to identify those involved in the attacks on houses and vehicles during the unrest that broke out on Monday.
Several incidents of violence and tense situations have been reported since the public retaliated in anger over the attack on peaceful anti-government protesters in Colombo by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) loyalists.
The houses, vehicles, and various properties of SLPP politicos and those linked to them have been destroyed and torched by angry mobs since the unrest broke out.
The military was already issued shooting orders by the Defence Ministry to prevent people from attacking and looting properties.
The Sri Lanka Police has followed suit and has also issued a shooting order to prevent further violence from taking place in the country. (NewsWire)
