The opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today met President Ranil Wickremesinghe to discuss the formation of an All-Party Government.
SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva said the discussion focussed on the way forward for an all/multi-party government or programme.
SJB leader Sajith Premadasa, alliance leaders Mano Ganesan, Rauff Hakeem, and the SJB’s management committee participated in the meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat.
“2. 90-minute discussion was positive. @sajithpremadasa said he came to the meeting with a “positive mindset” and wished to see how best we could all work together through Parliament,” MP Harsha de Silva Tweeted.
He further said the Opposition had wanted the lifting of the emergency law and release ‘Aragalaya’ prisoners, while it had also called for a stop to intimidation and arbitrary arrests of demonstrators.
Thereafter, President Ranil Wickremesinghe formally invited the Samagi Jana Balawegaya to an all/multi-party government.
“Some were positive some negative. But all agreed to explore how to help #SriLanka out of crisis. So @RW_UNP proposed “all party governance” සර්ව පාක්ෂික පාලනයක්,” MP de Silva added. (NewsWire)
