SLAF airlifts patient from Badulla to Colombo for organ retrieval

A patient who was in a vegetative state following an accident was airlifted by a Bell- 412 helicopter to the National Hospital in Colombo to retrieve vital organs.

The Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) facilitated the move keeping in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the Ministry of Health.

The patient was airlifted from the Badulla General Hospital to the Colombo National Hospital today (31).

According to the SLAF, it is expected that the vital organs from the donor will be donated to patients who require them, by the National Hospital. 

A Bell 412 helicopter which was converted to an air ambulance, from No.04 Squadron based at Ratmalana successfully transferred the vegetative patient at the National Hospital’s request.  (NewsWire)
